One Tenth

One Tenth

Hi My Love,

I wanted to share with you how I changed my attitude in Giving to God.

The day I got my first pay, It was easy to give the one Tenth to God. But when I got my second pay, I received more which meant my one tenth needed to be more too.

Boy did i struggle with myself. My head was full of questions such as:

1) Hm.. well are you sure God that you want one tenth? I only hear people say it at church.
2) Maybe you just want us to give as much as we want from our hearts?
3) Is ten percent of my income, excluding the money I get paid for fuel?
4) Gee its a lot of money, the church doesn't need that much from me.
5) I don't see others giving a lot why do I have to give so much.

SO I decided to find some answers...... FROM THE BIBLE! NOT PEOPLE!

1) "And blessed be God Most high, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. - Genesis 14:20

2) "Melchizedek was King of Salem and priest of God most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, And Abraham gave him a tenth of everything.." Hebrews 7:1-2

3) "A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it. The entire tithe of the herd and flock - every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod - will be holy to the Lord. He must not pick out the good from the bad or make any substitution. If he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed." - Leviticus 27:30-33

4) "there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks. There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you." Deuteronomy 12:6-7

5) "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a Tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone." Luke 11:42

6) Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men - Robbers, evil-doers, adulterers - or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." Luke 18:9-14

7) "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
In Tithes and offerings. You are under a curse - the whole nation of you - because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty,
"and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:8-10

WELL... after reading those over and over again. It is clear as mud now isn't it.

And from that day onwards, till the day I die. I have no excuses and no more questions.

I have tested God like he said in Malachi. And the Lord is sooo Good! :)

My sweetheart, I want to thank you for being a great example to me. You have such a generous heart, not only in money, but in love to others. You care for people and take time out to help even when you are busy.
You might not have started working yet and don't have earthly money, but boy are you blessed with a different kind of currency.
